The top business event trends for 2024
Impactful, creative business events are in demand for 2024, but what other trends will we see in the next year?
We’ve put together an overview of our predictions and insights for business event trends in 2024.
If you’d like to discuss any of them in more detail (and how you can take advantage of them), then we’d love to hear from you.
Return on investment
Reduced budgets and increased costs mean events will be objective-led and will also need to produce greater return on investment (ROI).
Alex Palmer, founder of Kina Events, said:
It’s become more important than ever to prove genuine ROI from events as cost versus return remains a big concern for businesses.
“So in 2024 we predict more focus on data collection technology that helps event planners prove how successful events are – and provide insights on how to make future events even better.”
Unique experiences
It will be (even) more difficult to persuade people to make the effort to attend an event in 2024, so you have to offer something really special to convince them it’s worth their time, money and effort.
So the trend for unusual venues and unique experiences will continue into 2024, as event planners look for new ways to attract and engage attendees.
Also, if people have made the effort to travel to an event, they’re more likely to extend their stay in order to make best use of their time and properly explore the destination.
Technology
The industry has been talking about them for a while, but now it’s much more common for event professionals to use augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools in their daily work.
VR and AR are helping event planners create the extra special event experience attendees now expect.
AI tools like ChatGPT are also helping us save time and resources on more repetitive tasks like answering routine enquiries and planning staff schedules.
We predict these technologies will become more embedded in business event planning during 2024.
Accessibility and inclusion
Equality, diversity and inclusion were given much higher priority in 2023, and we expect this welcome change will continue throughout 2024.
From choosing truly accessible venues and avoiding unconscious bias to providing quiet sensory rooms and using inclusive language, there are so many ways planners can improve event experiences for everyone.
Sustainable events
It’s finally the norm for event organisers to require venues and suppliers to have robust sustainability policies and accreditations in place, and greenwashing is not acceptable.
Organisers should check every element of the supply chain and ensure their events are as environmentally-friendly as possible – every small change makes a difference.
Another of our predicted business event trends for 2024 will be increased demand for ‘socially sustainable events’.
They go much further than simply being eco-friendly, and also have a positive impact on people and communities.
Organisers can achieve this by introducing measures that ensure workers are treated well, by collaborating with the local community and through the provision of learning and networking opportunities.
If you’d like to create value for money, unmissable business events in 2024, we can help and would love to hear from you.
